Cornelis Boersma, member of the NADP Executive Board, has been appointed professor of “Sustainable Care and Innovation” at the Open University in the Netherlands. The chair at the Nijmegen School of Management was established by VEROZ, the knowledge center for promoting innovation and entrepreneurship in healthcare. Boersma is a scientist (Global Health Unit, University of Groningen), consultant (CEO Health-Ecore) and as co-founder of Digital Health Link and SensUR Health.

Boersma: “We are increasingly and rapidly being confronted with the healthcare challenges for the future. A substantial structural transformation – unlike short-term control measures – is necessary for future-proof care. Investing in sustainable care and innovation is not only necessary from a care perspective, but also from a broader social and economic perspective. It is important that science and practice go hand in hand to work on the solutions for tomorrow. Innovation and entrepreneurship are of instrumental value here for the care and welfare of people. All this is not new, but it will become clear once again during the corona crisis”.
