First independent framework for assessing pharma company action on AMR

On 24 August, the Access to Medicine Foundation published the methodology for its 2018 Antimicrobial Resistance Benchmark. It is the first independently developed framework for evaluating how pharmaceutical companies are taking action to limit antimicrobial resistance (AMR). The framework was developed through consultation with stakeholders and experts working in AMR to build consensus on the priorities for pharmaceutical companies in AMR.

NADP view on international R&D initiatives on new antibiotics and alternatives

Kees de Joncheere, chair of the NADP Executive Board and former Director of the Essential Medicines and Health Products Department at the World Health Organisation (WHO) is focused on the international opportunities for NADP. Over the last years increasing concern has been expressed at the international level over the threat of antimicrobial resistance, leading to the adoption of the Global Action Plan on AMR by the WHO World Health Assembly, and the UN General Assembly resolution on AMR in 2016.
